Estación Marítima Mahón
Project: New Sea Terminal and Public Facilities
Location: Port of Mahon, Menorca, Spain
Area: 6.076 sqm/m2 (building) + 33.865 sqm/m2 (exterior facilities)
Date: June 2009
Team: Modo
Concept:
The proposal assumes a condition of emblematic building steeped in local histroy, and a keystone for the future development of the infrastructures of the ports of the island. It is therefore, a terminal where past and future coexist.
The boundary position of the proposal makes it work as a bridge between Earth and Sea, the building makes the transition between the inside-land and the port of Mahón.
The morphology of the station comes from a combination of site and program, the building opens wide to the best views while the interior program is structured around its perimeter.
